According to the World Health Organization, social determinants of health account for between 30-55% of all health outcomes. Recent research shows that things like economic stability, education, and housing are as, if not more, important than health care or lifestyle choices in influencing health.
According to the Center for Disease Control, the definition of health equity is the state in which everyone has a fair and just opportunity to attain their highest level of health. However, achieving that goal requires the direct attention and resolution of many problems coming from social, economic, and environmental factors that influence health outcomes.
